ABOUT FRANCE


- Is a unitary sovereign state comprising territory in western Europe  and several overseas regions and territories. 

- Has a population of 66.6 million.

-Metropolitan France  extends from the Mediterranean Sea  to the English channel  and the North Sea, and from the Rhine to the Atlantic Ocean; due to its shape, it is often referred to in French as The Hexagon. France is one of only three countries  to have both Atlantic and Mediterranean coastlines.

-Metropolitan France has four broad climate zones:










  • Firstly, west and northwest have an oceanic climate, warm but not hot summers and cool but not cold winters. Secondly, northeast has a semi-continental climate with hot summers and cold winters. Thirdly, south has a mediterranean climate, hot summers and mild winters. Finally in the Alps, the Pyrenees, the Massif Central, the Jura and the Vosges have a mountain or alpine climate with mild summers and cold winters.



Why is famous France ?

France is famous for cheese, more than 350 kinds of cheese are made in France (Camembert, Brie, Roquefort) wine, perfume (Chanel, Dior, Givenchy) and cars (Renault, Citroen, Peugeot).France is also famous for the Tour de France and the Eiffel.
